Wilkins’ first artwork was created at age 3 when, feeling inspired by the beautiful illustrations in a library book, she filled all the blank pages in the back with colorful drawings. After painting murals on the walls and ceilings of her childhood home in Bar Harbor, Maine, her parents were delighted to get that creative force some training at Williams College (BA 1984). A subsequent two years at The Portland School of Art (now Maine College of Art) (1987-89) in Portland Maine confirmed her vocation.

Wilkins has shown widely throughout the Northeast over the last dozen years, including the Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown, MA; Maine Coast Artists, Rockport ME; Roundtop Center for the Arts, Damariscotta, ME; Redfield's Artisan Gallery, Northeast Harbor, ME; Jules Place, Boston, MA; Gleason Fine Art, Boothbay Harbor ME; and Jameson Gallery, Portland, ME. Wilkins has work in many private and corporate collections including Southern Maine Community College; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine; Jensen, Baird, Gardner and Henry; Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer and Nelson; and LeBlanc and Young, among others. In 2003 she completed "People’s Fireflies", painting a 10 foot high fiberglass lighthouse sculpture, as part of Out Front Productions "Lighthouses on Parade" promotion in Portland Maine.
